New Delhi, Aug. 28 (UPI) — A sex toy brand in New Delhi’s eastern city of Lucknow has been granted legal license by the government to sell vibrators and other sex toys.
The company, Sex Toys of India, has applied for an application to the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), which regulates the sex toy industry.
The application was filed with the ministry on Wednesday.
DeitY has been tasked with regulating the sex toys industry in India, which is home to more than 1 billion people.
The ministry said the company has the right to sell, import, distribute, display and advertise the products.
Deityys owner, Arvind Prakash, said the new application would allow him to sell toys and sex toys at his stores.
Prakach has been selling sex toys for more than 20 years and has also launched a sex toy line called Deityy.
He said the Deityyd sex toys are popular with the public.
“It is a great moment for our company and we are excited to expand the product line and make Deityyny one of the most popular sex toys in the world,” he said.
The sex toys store in Lucknow, which was started by Deityx founder Arundhati Bhattacharya, is part of the Lucknow-based Sex Toys India group, which has a total of more than 10 locations in the city.
The new Deityym sex toys brand has plans to expand in other states.
In January, the government approved the creation of the National Sexual Health and Sexual Health Awareness Network (NSHSAN) under the National Public Health Mission, which aims to improve sexual health among women and promote sexual and gender diversity in the country.
