The sex toys market has exploded in recent years, with a wide range of products that are designed to pleasure and satisfy a wide variety of needs.
For the company, it’s a natural progression to explore new territory and take on more of a consumer-facing role.
In a recent interview with The Verge, cofounder and CEO Matt Weinberger explained how the company has grown to handle all the new product categories in an age of digital commerce and a growing appetite for intimate partner sex toy development.
“Sex toys have evolved to the point where we can have a product that we know is going to fit perfectly into a partner’s repertoire, but then also do a lot of different things with it,” Weinberger said.
“For example, we’ve built an entire line of toys that are specifically designed to be used as a clitoral stimulation device.
And then we have products that we think fit well in a non-penetrative, submissive role.
It’s really about having different kinds of toys, different types of play styles, and a wide diversity of uses.”
Lovenselse was founded in 2014 by Matt Weinberg and David Schulman, a former Apple executive who is now the vice president of product development for the sex toys industry.
“Matt and David are extremely passionate about sex toys,” Weinberg said.
They have built a product line with a variety of sizes, colors, and shapes that they’ve dubbed the “Love Locks,” a playful line that offers “a great combination of different toys that fit into a range of different roles.”
Weinberger and Schulmann also founded the sex toy-specific toy marketplace, the LoveLocks, in 2015, which has been expanding and expanding ever since.
The two men started working together after they discovered the potential for the world of sex toys in their teens.
“The first thing I was interested in was the clitoral, and the first thing that came to mind was the silicone lube,” Weinburg said.
Lovensels product line has grown over the past few years, and they’ve been working on a range as diverse as “love locks,” vibrators, and butt plugs, with partners including Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, and Eva Lovia.
“A lot of the partners that we work with have said, ‘I like the lube, but it’s not comfortable for me,’ or, ‘It’s too stiff,'” Weinberg added.
“And we’re always looking for ways to tweak the lubes and adjust the design so that it’s more comfortable, or more pleasurable for a partner.”
Weinberg says that their product line is not all about sex, and that it is “a place where we get to make our partners feel good and happy and safe.”
Weinman and Schuilman launched Lovenses partner products into the market in 2016.
The company now sells products in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Loveless sex toys range from $40 to $80, depending on the type of toy and the shape.
Weinberger told The Verge that the company aims to create a range that is both affordable and appealing to a wide audience, including both women and men.
“If you’re into love and want to enjoy it as much as possible, we have a range in there that you can love to, that you’re excited about, and then we can make a lot more fun,” he said.
Weinberg’s company, Lovens, launched in August 2017, and it now has more than 1,400 customers worldwide.
“We’re just starting to hit our stride, and we’re just going to keep growing,” Weinb said.
A Lovenes partner has an experience, too, and Weinberg explained that a lot depends on the product and the person.
“You don’t need to be a certified sexologist or an expert in this field to understand how sex toys work and what they’re for,” he explained.
“But you need to have some experience with it.
So we’re not going to sell products to everyone, but we want to give you something that you might like.”
Lovels is available in many different styles, with models ranging from $35 to $100.
There’s a variety in the price range as well, with the most popular models costing between $40 and $60.
Weinber said that they work with a range from models that are $40 for the base model, to models that go up to $75.
The range of toys includes toys that can be used with any body type, from the “comfortably sized” to the “large and powerful.”
There are even toys that come with different types and shapes, such as the “naked toy,” which comes in different sizes and shapes.
Weinb also said that their partner products can be worn by partners of any gender.
