Australia’s $1.1 billion porn industry hits $1 billion mark – The Age

Posted November 20, 2017 11:19:03The industry is now worth more than $1bn, according to data compiled by Forbes.

This is up on last year’s $860m, which is a 10 per cent increase from 2015.

The figure was generated from Forbes’ latest list of the world’s most valuable companies.

Its not the first time Forbes has put a figure on the porn industry.

It was recently named the most valuable company in the world by the Economist, while last year Forbes ranked China’s porn industry second.

“A number of other industries are showing strong growth as well,” Forbes said in its list of “The World’s Most Valuable Companies”.

“This includes mobile gaming, e-commerce, digital media, technology, social media, film, travel and retail.”

For the first four months of 2017, the top ten companies generated $1billion in sales.

“What does this mean for us?

A big part of the industry’s growth is down to the rise of apps, the emergence of streaming services and mobile gaming.”

Porn has now surpassed social media in terms of growth,” Forbes senior managing editor Adam Cote said.”

The rise of social media is partly to blame for the rise in porn.

“It’s now an increasingly popular medium, particularly among younger demographics, and it’s been driven by the sheer number of people who watch it.”

“But there’s also been a shift to mobile gaming in the past couple of years, where the demand has been greater.”

In terms of the most-streamed porn, the new year is shaping up to be a banner year for the industry, with more than 500,000 new porn videos streamed in 2017, up from a million in 2016.

But while the rise is happening, the industry is struggling.

“There’s been some progress, particularly in terms for the younger generation, but that’s not enough to offset the rise,” Mr Cote explained.

“And the industry also needs to keep pace with the rising cost of pornography in order to stay afloat.”

Even if the industry can continue to grow, it needs to be more competitive in the long term.
